I have found that wearing compression socks for a few hours after I run helps with recovery and wonder about other compression wear eg tights or shorts to wear to aid recovery not to run in. What has anyone else bought/would recommend?

I wear compression tights overnight after a long run (marathon +) and it always seems to help recovery not sure if it is placebo effect or not but while it works i'll carry on.

I also do the compression sock thing after races - cant run in them though. I also wore my compression tights after LMN last year and felt quite sprightly in the morning ;) I have also run in them on occasion if it is a bit on the cold side. I have two pairs - 2XU and Red Venom. The Red Venom are thinner but both do the job equally well.

I have run 3 half's with compression socks, do feel the benefit as trained up to 10 miles without them and can feel my ankles and calves.

Just to point out that there really is no scientific evidence that compression garments actually work!

It goes totally against the grain, but I fancy that sleeping in compression tights helps a bit.

I wear compression calf guards on long runs, and will often put on compression tights straight after a shower, and sleep in them, after long runs/races. There have indeed been mixed research results on using compression garments, and it may well be all in my head, but I haven't had any shin problems since I started using calf guards for tougher sessions, and I do feel better in the morning for sleeping in the tights!

As has mentioned, I wear compression tights once showered and keep them on overnight.
