I started wearing calf guards as part of my recovery from a L3 tear. We never know "what would have happened if" but I have noticed a big reduction in DOMS and stiff calves. It may be a placebo in conjunction with improved fitness but whatever, I'm sticking with it!

I wore compression sox in the cold and they definitely helped. if nothing else they kept the muscles warm

I'm a convert. It helps with cramp on long runs (and races), and also with recovery.
