We use it as training to help build and strengthen, recovery from training and racing. It works on the muscles motor point to stimulate the muscle. As long as a nerve is 'alive' it can activate the muscle, really useful for rehab in reducing amount of muscle wastage as well as 'waking' up a tired muscle. Check out Compex tube channels for uses. It does have tens functions but does far more than your basic tens machine.
