my official photos definitely show the pain! I think I hit the wall at 14 miles - was doing the metric- by the time we ran into the back of the race course I could hardly lift my feet over the grass!

Going to doba gentle parkruns Sat. Experience tells me my legs usually feel fine Weds after, but my HR readings take 3 weeks to go back to normal

My next parkrun will be my 50th, and I've got a 12 year old for whom his next one would be his 10th. Question is, do I head out on Saturday with him, and have a nice father son experience (but a terrible run time!) for my 50th, or try to go for a blast on Saturday and take him around over the next couple of weeks? (He's learning disabled, so can't run on his own, and needs a lot of cajoling around 3k!)

50 & 10 together sounds like a great idea - that doesnt happen often whereas you can aim for a fast time any old week.

True, true. I'm a selfish individual at heart!

If we do that, I'll have a 15 year old with a 17:45 best (30 parkruns), a 12 year old with a 10 t-shirt (35:53 best), a 9 year old with a 10 t-shirt (27:27 best) and a 7 year old with a 10 t-shirt (28:22 best), plus my wife with no t-shirt and a 25:58 best. All in a family which didn't really do running until a few years ago!

I agree - I also think 50 & 10 together is an opportunity you won't get again.

Even if your legs feel ok I think it would be unwise from a recovery point of view to blast it around this week.

I know, its not fair. He does that off a maximum of 3 training sessions per week (though recently it's been just 1) and isn't even that quick compared to some in his age group. Up to last year I still reckon I could have taken him down in a half as he doesn't do any mileage, but he did a mountain bike duathlon earlier in the year that I also took part in, and he had finished the final run whilst I was still on the bike, so I reckon even his stamina would be there now.

Top finishing Clare, you could see how hard you had worked for that. Looking at the results, 21st female and look at the amount of places you made up - decent pacing as well.
