I looked as knackered and ploddy as I felt, literally had no sprint finish at all!

How are you feeling after the wisdom teeth thing Clare?

Those bridge photos have to be late on as I'm clutching a water bottle

The bridge is the one in Farndon, about 16.5 miles in.

Ah yes, remember that now, there was some music playing at the other side of that IIRC...was it not later than 16.5 though ?

I remember that bridge, it was about 17m in, there was quite a cruel quad-mashing downhill to the bridge then up the other side. There was some loud music outside a pub on the uphill bit on the left side!

My mouth is sore but I'm otherwise fine thank you! I had 2 wisdom teeth taken out yesterday under general anaesthetic, well timed as I couldn't have exercised yesterday, today or likely tomorrow! However I am not liking the not eating thing! Monday post-marathon, I really didn't have an appetite but did eat reasonably, then after a forced 6.30am breakfast yesterday morning I was NBM until about 4.30pm when I had soup after the op! I was starving!! Have been eating blended / liquid stuff since which really doesn't cut it! I've never not been able to eat when wanting to - usually if ill, you don't fancy stuff! All I want to do is chew proper food but I think it will be a few days yet. So it's soup, nutribullets, yoghurt, jelly, rice pudding etc until then!!

Leg-wise I feel back to normal today. Legs felt pretty good yesterday and completely fine today. I think I'll try and run on Friday, just an easy 5-6m to get the kegs going.

Ouch,I didnt realise that Clare...glad you are recovering. Not sure how you could manage without proper eating, I have really pigged out these last few days

Very impressed about the leg recovery as well, although my legs were not as sore as they have been after previous marathons, Mon and Tuesday were still tough and my quads are still grumbling a bit today. I am thinking Friday as well for a wee bimble and as much as I want to Parkrun on Saturday, I wont !

That was a different bridge Clare - you're thinking of the one in Aldford I think which came after the Farndon one. THough I can well imagine how the whole section feels like a blur!

General anaesthetic after a marathon sounds like a decent way to numb the Monday / Tuesday legs...

Bazo, I really want to pig out, it's torture! Even biting an apple is something I long to do. And I usually give myself some grace where healthy eating's concerned just after a marathon, so to not get the chance feels a bit like I'm cheated! But it's for the best. One of the teeth gave me quite a lot of jip in Aug-Sept and threatened to jeopardise my training at times when it was painful and infected. I had a quick fix drilling procedure in it in mid Sept to keep it at bay until after the marathon and luckily it was fine. One of my main worries was it becoming infected and painful again in the week leading up to Chester!

The GA was lovely, like a really good sleep even though it was only about an hour!

Could likely have been another bridge yes larkim as I think the one I describe was around 18m? I'm afraid bits of it have blurred in my memory! I'm just starting to write my blog now.

I will be parkrunning on Sat but will be with my 7yo who's just started doing them so will be a 10+mm jog rather than hard effort (until he outsprints me at the end!!)

Parkrunning with a 7yo would be fab. Ive been on at my two (17 and 19) for a while and they refuse to come along even once to try. My son (19) has recently started going to the gym and has built up to 35 mins on the treadmill (not been able to establish the pace yet - but I will) but he did say he has no idea how I ran for 3:09........he probably hasnt realised yet that my avge pace was probably faster than his. One day we can do a father and son marathon and he will probably take me down.
