Elevation map may be pleasant, but it isn't very accurate.

According to the elevation chart, the biggest hill on the route is running along Museum Avenue..........errr no. Meanwhile the uphill from 10-10.5 miles is over double the climb indicated on the elevation chart. Even then, it is less than 100ft.

First thing to note about the elevation map, is the scale. It looks a little scary, but the highest point on the chart is only 65ft, with a lowest a 13ft. Over those kind of distances, that is nothing. However, the route itself is a little bumpier than the elevation chart (allowing for scale) indicates.

The route is not hilly, but it isn't as flat as it has been. Possibly the second worst climb of the entire route is going up the sliproad between a roundabout and the dual carriageway that crosses above the roundabout. The worst climb is roughly the equivalent of 3 of them stretched end to end at around 10 miles.

So no real hills, but given its history - undoubtedly more climbing than the Cardiff Half has ever done in the past.

Flat or not, it's gotta be done today, so have fun.

About This Thread

Maintained by Caterpillar
Post race drinkies in The Eli Jenkins between Bute Crescent and Stuart Street. (Stand with your back to the front of the armadillo just outside where the big words are, turn 45 degrees to your left, it is about 100m in front of you). Hopefully drinkies will be accompanied by flapjacks and welsh cakes.
