Itโ€™s well worth a visit if you enjoy running, walking, cycling or swimming and being away from the hustle and bustle of life.

We've got a big family tent which we used well this year (Lincolnshire, Kielder, Edinburgh) for a great family holiday. But on each of the guy ropes there is a "slider" which confuses me. It's not the usual slider to tension the ropes (they have those as well), it's only at the top of the line and can only have a very limited range of motion. I thought it was just an oddity that our tent had it (maybe end of line, dodgy manufacturing), but I've seen the online 2022 model and it has the same "feature" (which is where this image is from). Anyone got any ideas what it is for?

I've got tensioner like that on my waterproof jacket! I think a loop of cord is meant to pass through the hole and then it be possible to shorten/lengthen the cord by altering the size of the loop?

It's really odd as it does absolutely nothing to tension. I've got similar sliders on rucksacks and running vests etc that do something (much as you describe), but I can't for the life of me work out what the purpose is on this tent (Arpenaz 8.4XL from Decathlon for reference).

Looking at their other similar tents, none of them have this even where the rest of the guy rope is in a similar config. So maybe they just have them on the spec drawings by mistake, and no-one's twigged that they are redundant!

Loch Morlich is one of my favourite places :-)

LouiseRuns ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ take a look at Waterside Farm Camping next to Ullswater. You can right on the shore. The Ullswater Way route goes through the site (20 mile circuit of Ullswater) so you can run/walk from the site - or go halfway and get the steamer back. It's a mile along the shore to Pooley Bridge with a selection of pubs/restaurants/cafes. They also have a small outdoor cafe on site, but the site isn't an 'over commercialised/packed in tightly' site.

Just because that's how it's on when it was delivered doesn't mean that's how it's meant to be, of course!
I've re threaded quite a few buckles and straps on bags and catches to make them actually usable over the years!

Yes, that had occurred to me too. But even watching the detail of their setup video they are just both a) there and b) completely ignored! Even if they were positioned below the knot I couldn't see what purpose they served! I wondered at first if they were just to help with tieing the ropes back up when we put it away but that isn't feasible either as these are guy ropes that are fixed at both ends. Truly peculiar!

If it doesn't have to be an official C&C site, LouiseRuns ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ, Lochore Meadows in Fife active.fife.scot And the Moho parking is also only about 300m from the start of one of Scotland's best parkruns.

Ooh, they sound good! I've just got back from Hertford C&C Club (we keep the motorhome there) which is handy for the Lea River. Kayaked a few times there, but I've never found the spot on Hartham Common where there's supposed to be a ladder so swimmers can get in and out.

Got something to say?
