You looked a bit bewildered at the finish, MissC. Lovely to have met you at last - if only briefly!

Yes it gun time effectively! They cant put mats down so you should start your watch by the horn, not the line.

Well done for all the pbs :)

Magpie did awesome with 70:50 and a six minute plus pb!! I was 1 sec behind for a min or so pb. Happy times! Whoever else bet on me apart from him well done!

Yes, I was SW! A bit whizzy - took a while to recover.

Curly, but.. but. but.. what's the point of chip timing then?

Curly - I was right at the back, on purpose, so I started my watch when I went over the start. No way I'm going to include the walk to the start as part of my race time. Shame this slightly ruins a good event.

Very strange that they do chip times but no start mat. Might write to them.

It makes the results easier basically. It used to be the norm with races... They arent allowed to put mats on the road as far as I know so cant have chip to chip. Its called gun to chip that sort of timing.

I might be living in a dreamworld but I'm not sure there was a mat at the mid point or the end either? Have they got some other kind of technology going on? *lives in hope*

No mat at the start for sure as the road is only closed immediately before the start. And without that, there is no point in having a midway mat. There is a mat at the finish to record your time but that is recorded from the starting hooter.

It really is a very common system. Your published time is the one you should use. Sorry guys!

Mats at the end, not at the mid point.

I've spent all afternoon sorting out stuff for our holiday and ironing, have only just sat down. My glutes (and piriformis?) are giving me hell!

Well, I'm holding out for the chip time (which, incidentally, is not filled in when you click on your name in the results) as no matter what I can't see how my time can be LONGER than the time on the clock when I finished....
