Thanks Max. Cheers'd be fantastic. A bit of a push would be even better... ;)

H - I mentioned the tri bike thing not being his area of expertise to Pierre last night over dinner. I wasn't very popular. He bristled and said 'of course I can do tri bikes' and then castigated me for having so little faith in my husband's professionalism. Oops. As for your mtb - you should see the state of some of the bikes we have... what is it?

Re the comfy chairs for the timers - excellent idea. and yes, book is wise too. I hear 'War and Peace' is good. That and Lord of the Rings. I would recommend A Suitable Boy, but I fear it may be too short. How about Ulysses? That should keep 'em entertained... ;)

That adds a bit of extra spice to proceedings... whoever's last, will be LAST.

Ooh, yummy. This needs a thread of its own.

I quite like coming last in races. There's usually loads of support from the assembled crowd!!

Hollywoof!
shoeless - 8 or 9 year old Kona Lava Dome - it's done well over 30000 miles (although probably only a few thousand off road) and it knows it... it wouldn't take much care and attention to let it have more than one working gear but it don't get no love no more :-( Poor thing! (Also it's been emotionally damaged since I put a pannier rack on it a few years ago!)

Gobi, with the little 'un around, I've learnt to combine activities to avoid the drain on brownie ponts. PLus I'm sure I read an article about seven pints and a bag of pork scratchings being perfect for recovery...
