They can watch the start, then it's a brisk walk across to the 1km point by the toilets before the first runners get there, then they can easily stroll across to about 200m from the end and try to spot the runners coming down the last kilometer of straight. If they want to be active then they can also help - feel free to volunteer them for disk handing out, name writing down or any of the other chores. If they have a bike then watching at half way would also be very straightforward to do.... However..... why not just make your support crew run - they'll have plenty of competition... put some sports kit in the car just in case...
