Of course, you still need someone to enter the data into the laptops but at least that could be done in the warm, over a coffee and cake in cafe nero?

Of course it didn't go horribly wrong - it never does, because it's brilliantly organised. Just Bushy Park is such a victim of its own success. Trying to think how we can get 400+ freezing runners through the system faster, and also worrying a bit about the poor volunteers on the laptops. I've done that job, and on a bright sunny day you can't see the screen, and in the cold and wet your fingers freeze, but it's the best system so far. It's true - the runners are all so grateful to the volunteers. Anyway - sorry I wasn't helping today, but I will be back doing whatever Stumpy wants me to do next week.
