I was thinking about doing the 4th Oct just so I have a 5k race logged so I can chase a PB on 18th ... or is that cheating ... lol ;-)

Is there a minimum age I might drag my son and daughter round with me ... if I can drag them out of bed ;-)

I guess not, there's a chap who always runs pushing a buggy, so in effect I suppose you can say it's open to all ages!

Plenty of kids do it as well.

lots of kids do it, but we do ask that a) there is not undue pressure to 'perform', that is they should be doing it for their own enjoyment, and b) your child is your responsibility, we do not look out for them or make special arrangements for them, so they MUST be accompanied by the parent all the way for at least the first couple of times until you are confident the child will be OK. (which may be more than a couple of times).

in reality the ones that do it on their own are at least 8 years old. and I would say kids need to be accompanied the first few times up to the age of about 13 (having seen some distressed kids whose parents thought they would be fine on their own and they weren't). Many of the children who appear to be running alone actually have a doting parent trotting about 5 feet behind them and letting them beat mum/dad, and they do that every week.

a lot of the kids love the whole event which is fab. some love it less, which means they don't do it very often, which is also fine. for the kids it is about getting them outside in the fresh air and having something they can participate in with their parents.

but yes. if you think the child is capable of the distance without distress or risk, then bring them along and take them round.

prams are also welcome. as are dogs on a short lead. :-)
