Heavyweight - you could try FitnessFirst - they do one day trial passes (but you might have to listen to their sales spiel for a few minutes...)

anyone caught the news yet?

The delay in starting the event in Richmond Park can be attributed to some issues we have faced regarding health and safety. It has become apparent to us that UK Athletics and other official bodies (local and centralised government) advise children under 13 NOT to compete in 5,000 meter events. The license that we have for RPTT explicitly precludes us from offering this event to anyone younger than 13 years of age.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important information about children running

The advice regarding children running distance events could have a knock on impact on our other events. We are investigating the options and will make decisions appropriately. For now, there is no change for our other events. We are allowing but not encouraging children younger than 13 to take part at their parents discretion and responsibility. The website will be kept up to date plus we will continue to broadcast these important notices from time to time.

aye, saw that on the weekly report.

tricky one. if UKA forbid children taking part in events then is the insurance null for those people under 13?
do we need to do more than make it very clear to parents/responsible adults that the child runs at THEIR risk and the TT is not responsible?

what then is the situation if a child runner trips an adult and injures them both? who has a legitimate claim? and is that claim against UKTT for allowing the child on the course in the first place? and does allowing the child on the course make the insurance null and void so

I know it sounds petty, but if it does have significant legal impact then it is important.

PS, Diva, guess that means you are saved from pushy Dad at richmond for a while. ;-)
guess that means we keep him at BPTT :-(

Stumpy, similar thoughts were going through my mind

Maybe, if the kid throws up again other folks will give the Dad the evil eye

The Dad's brother is obviously that person at the Cricket Club on the other side of the park ;-)
