I think this week should be quite competitive up front - I've not seen many internationals out running in BP this week - so maybe all the big names are competing this weekend, but the local club runners should all be back this week after last week's relays... The ground was also a little soft yesterday - there's been some rain to muddy up some of the grassy stretches.

No sure idea how my BPTT 5k compares with other 5k times - but as I recall it, the Serpies LFOTM race felt faster and easier. Someone like Gobi has raced track and BPTT more recently - he should be able to give more knowledge...

Puff - I knew that already (and on your birthday as well!) Regardless I think it's all your fault of course... ;-) Somehow the "not running but helping list" has merged with the "not turning up" list...

Greg - long story, but there were complaints on the bosoms thread about not enough nakedness. I had a funny running-related naked photo, so promised to put it up. I had also stolen Gobi's piccie for long enough. This photo was a bet for losing to my mate at NY. our biggest sponsor (a gay guy...) insisted!

JEJ - I have no idea - BPTT is the only 5K I have ever raced. There is some chat that it's a little slower than a road 5k due to multi terrain. I, for one, don't like the gravel path too much, and there's a couple of K on that

Get well soon BB - I could do with someone to chase to help me beat my BPTT PB.

Last week was disapointing coming in 40 seconds slower than the PB despite being well rested & weeks of much better training in terms of quantity & quality.

Hopefully today something magical might happen

Good luck to all

For me I found it a very tough course. To be fair even smooth roads are too rough in my book - I'm much quicker over lovely flat track - so the combination of grass and gravel meant that I struggled round slowe than 10km pace in 16:57 (I think). In current form I'd be a bit gutted not to beat 16 minutes on the track.
Otherwise a very fun race. I may return should I come out of hibernation during the cold winter months.

That was great fun. Bit warm in the suit but nice to get good support on the way round.

Well done everyone who ran.

results are up....... altho photos don't appear to be yet.

well done mb99. that looked like hard work! sorry didn't see you at the end but we certainly all saw you at the beginning!

all went a bit wrong at my end....

didn't feel very well so didn't plan to race it and just was going to sit on someone's shoulder and coast a bit. then that person slowed down so I overtook and then she sat on my shoulder all the way. which made me go faster.

so did it all a bit faster than my body really wanted to today and it rebelled afterwards! still don't feel so good...... :-(

JEJ, yes, it isn't as straightforward as a road course and because so much of it is a long straight then it can be difficult to judge distance.... but after a few times it becomes easier to judge.

people don't do it to get a 5k PB, but really to judge themselves on the same course over time. so you can only really compare this time to another BPTT time (if you see what I mean....) :-)
