More on the saga of the distance round Bushy Park - I just cycled it in each direction. To cut to the chase I think the course is approximately 5016412 millimetres.

The mileometer showed me EXACTLY the same distance both ways round. It's always very consistent like that. I was very careful to follow the shortest possible route with the straightest line between corners. I even had to stop for a family on bikes so I could cut diagonally to the right hand side of the path at one point. The mileometer measures to 0.01 of a mile, which is 17.6 yards (or - by an amazing coincidence - around 16 metres.)

Just be sure I re-calibrated the mileometer, so now I am fairly sure that the Bushy Park Time is somewhere in the region of 5k, more or less. I'm not prepared to argue with Hugh Jones about it anyway.

Ace stuff. Lovely morning. Gobi giving a masterclass in how to cruise round and beat us all without breaking sweat. Balham Bouncer with an awesome run, but missing a PB by two seconds. Me doing a great 19:44, which is six seconds behind the best that I ran when the course was 30 metres shorter. TMW demonstrating how to set off too fast and have a coronary embolism half way round. All great fun.

Well, Gobi, I couldn't swear that it's long - the error is within the limit of my trip computer on the bike.

Statistics is a dark art.....

Lay off TMW Cat!! Didn't see any of us lot doing an ultra last w/e. Other than Gobi and UV of course...

Twas a good morning. 203 runners. A little bit windy, but mainly sunny. Had Gobi shouting abuse at me all along the final k. Cat and I are claiming moral PB's due to the course being longer this time - roughly 10K so rumour would have it!

They've also added short videos to the pictures bit on the site

If you want the time you have to pay the devil.

Seriously for a moment

Give TMW his dues he raced a 50K last Sunday but still believed he could run the pace to go sub 19:30 which was a very confident thing to try. On this occasion it was a little much but I believe he will go sub 18:30 by next year and I believe he will go sub 38 over 10K.

I want to see you sub 17:30, Gobi. Should be easy right now, to be honest

Sorry - I didn't mean it to sound unkind. :-( I know he's capable of better than today's result, and I'd feel no shame if he beat me, which he will, next time.

Sorry TMW!
