I dont really care what the disance is so long as its the same each week, now however it will take me ages to beat my PB if that was on a short course. Maybe Paul will take out my old PB for the old distance then at least I can have something realistic to chase!

At the end of the day though its a free fun race with some very fast/well known people and you always know there will be someone there to run against, so no complaints from me :)

Aaagh. Humble pie time. :-(

My bicycle computer was set wrongly. D'oh!!!!! It said 3.35 miles this morning. I've changed the setting and done loads of the stuff that is mentioned in the link you sent Hollywood. Found an exactly straight bit of road (Hersham Road) cycled in both directions, measured the distance as accurately as possible from the Ordnance Survey map, and decided that the cycling computer is now jolly accurate.

So I think the bit I measured this morning should have displayed 3.116 miles (5.013 km.) It's quite possible the route I cycled was 13 metres longer than the shortest possible route, maybe even 43 metres if you include the bit they added on.

In summary, I now think BPTT is approximately 5k. Near enough.

And I'm thrilled to bits with my non-PB time on the new "Long" BPTT course. Another sub 20. Not bad for an old git.

By the way everyone - this is a wind-up. Stumpy did a fantastic job on the results table for the BPTT, and she wouldn't cheat at all. Oh no. Not at all. Not even for fifty quid. Well, not for a tenner anyway. And if I was going to cheat I'd ask for a PB at least. If I had fifty quid.

Hi all!!

I did manage to go to France in the end - mad rush out the door at work to try and catch my friends at Canary Wharf before heading down to Dover without me. Unfortunately the weather was freaking miserable. Oh well - we ate tons of French food to make up for it. And perhaps a few wee glasses/bottles/cases of Chablis and Chateauneuf du pap. YUM!!

I had planned to do a couple of runs, but not possible in that rain :-(
I also wanted to head out this evening on a 6 to 10 miler, but it's been thunder and lightning. So my mara training schedule has three "DNRs" in a row. Very poor effort!

How were the BPTT birthday celebrations then??

The celebrations were .... muted. We celebrated by being told to run an extra 30 metres. The first 99 BPTTs were 30 metres too short according to Hugh Jones. Hollywood celebrated by eating all their cake. We sang happy birthday to Paul, the organiser and a good time was had by all.

Hollywood and I ran in matching orange. Stumpy was manning (personing) the results table.

Good stuff.

The weather didn't look so bad here on Saturday morning. I should have stayed...
