Yep. Knew they’d do the same so hadn’t entered Brighton yet.

Brighton will go up once London ballot closes and inevitably do so again once the ballot results come out.

I just came along to post about the London rejection being offered Brighton and Phil beat me to it!

That's potentially going to make Brighton very busy!

Certainly a good idea from LME. I am sure there are plenty of marathon newbies out there who still consider London to be the only marathon.

It almost goes back to the 2010 promotion. Sign-up for Brighton and, if you are successful in London and want to withdraw, get a refund (minus £5 admin fee).

I reckon I’ll probably do Brighton next year but can’t be bothered to enter right now.

So I just went for the Brighton-less LM entry. No cost up front so no risk.

Brighton at £60 early bird… can’t see it going over £80 even at the point of London ballot results. They’d want to price it competitively to entice those who miss the cut.

So I’m happy to consider my options over the next few months…

Wish I had known about the LME/Brighton option before I signed up for Brighton 2024. That will teach me for being impatient - I just wanted to put something in the diary after my 2023 DNS!!! - let's hope the doctor can fix my foot soon so that I can start running again.

Enter the LM ballot for free and if you get a place, presumably Brighton might let you defer to 2024? Might be just with an admin fee to do so…

Think I was £20 or £30 to defer from 2022 to 2023. On top of £80 entry. Thought that was a bit steep.

I paid £20 to defer KCA. Which i did grumble about at the time.

tommy_b - I have tried London for many years but no joy so thought what the heck and applied again - will see what happens if I get lucky. Although as a slow plodder that is feeling ones age I am not sure I want to be doing another one in 2025 ;-) or 2 in 2024 :-o Hopefully my foot will heal soon (stress fracture) so that I can return to running and rebuild a foundation.

Got something to say?
