I have always taken the train post-race, including 2017 when it was really hot and there were delays as someone had got on the line. Until 2014, it was also a train to Preston Park before the start. Since the police now close the station that morning, I get dropped off by car near the roundabout before Withdean and walk in.

I have often considered the park and ride but I would probably be going further away than just straight down the A23. After the marathon, that may be the best option.

I assume the organisers haven’t cocked it up and I am still entered in this!

The e-mails are still coming in. This week's gave me the 20% discount code for family and friends as I am a BM Member. I'm so glad I am just paying £40 a year as the e-mail gave this year's standard entry price as £75. All part of the Expo early bird entry being discontinued.

Saying that, in a few months' time, everything is bound to change anyway!

I’ll be there again for my 6th Brighton Marathon. Had a PB in 2013, 14, 15 & 16 but been stuck ever since: a course PW last time out in 2019. Fingers crossed for a better run in September though I guess it may well be too hot for me then.

I got a surprise PB in 2013 and have only bettered it once since, so a good one for me in Brighton is overdue. I hope that the summer training goes well enough to justify starting in the yellow corral, having been in pink for the last three races.

I will be keeping the back of the pack in check :-)

2019 was my first and only marathon so I am hoping for a PB as my back went at half way and I crawled the rest of the way.

Just need to knuckle down with my training now.

Anyone understand deferral options?

My GNR / Brighton clash is somewhat leading towards GNR since I can’t defer that.

Plus I don’t really want to marathon train over the summer months. So am considering a 45 mile ultra around Bristol in August followed by GNR the next month instead ... idea being I can recover more for a half than a marathon :)

Shame you won't be joining us, tommy_b, but fully understandable. There is this information from the website regarding deferring to 2022.

Hey, I have found a Brighton Marathon cheat - in a wheelchair! Have a look for yourselves and decide, "should I report him to Grounded Events?" Name is Robert Groves (bib: 78019).

I'm not denying that he did his best considering he has a disability but there is no way, he could start at the back of the field, pass the 10k camera just in front of the sweep vehicle, disappear close to the pier, returning nearly an hour later to finish in 3:32:39.
