I'm in and like many others have also applied for VLM. Thinking of Brighton as a 'back up' to VLM - is that wrong? If VLM comes good then decision time, options as follows:

1. Defer Brighton?
2. Defer VLM?
3. Run both!! (never ran a mara before)

As much as I loved Brighton this year, I don't think you can beat London as a first marathon. I would defer Brighton and do VLM.

Did Brighton as my first marathon this year PP, really wouldn't have fancied running London a week later! I live a mile from the finish line and was so grateful I didn't have to get a train, bus, long car journey etc. so my recommendation would be do the one that's easiest to get home from!

I signed up yesterday too John :-o . I think it was a bit of a rush of blood cos I was going to do Berlin first and see how I liked it before committing to other marathons.

It was wonderful this year peeps, not sure I could do another a week later though . . . it depends on what kind of a first mara you're looking for I suppose, when I watched London I was really glad to have been in a group of 7,500 and not in a group of what looked like about 5 million! Have obv got place in Brighton for 2011, have also entered ballot for VLM but if I got both I would defer VLM on the basis that I know the places I found hard on the Brighton route and would feel better equipped next time round to deal with them.

Prob all a load of balls, but hey ho! (I did run faster than the testicles, and the boobs but not the firefighter or the stormtrooper)
