Hugely elaborate and heavy fancy dress is the usual reason for those kind of times

I know of one of those 9 hourish finishers who collapsed near the 800m to go sign and ended up in hospital for a few hours. She got dropped off near the 25 mile mark and finished it from there. Fair play to that.

Excellent that she got the chance to finish.

I think it's fine if you've got a huge fancy dress costume on or if you've got some serious disability etc. However, if you're of a normal build and are largely physically intact, then you'd expect them to be able to "run the large majority of the course" and finish in, say, less than 6 hours. I can't remember the wording but I'm sure there was something in the Brighton regs that expects you to finish in a certain time. Maybe it's London I'm thinking of.

I thought that there was a sweep vehicle following a 6 hour pace marker Naomi - after that time they had to re-open the roads and could ask you to run on the pavement I think?

No idea if they actually did it though.....

Isn't there sometimes a problem with the timing chip which results in a very slow time.

Say if someone for some reason missed the mats at the finish, or their chip fell off?

BCRB the tan lines are fading as the flaking skin appears. ;)

I need to go somewhere hot to even the tan out. :)

Enthusiastic!
I think that's a very generous sentiment from the winner SCP :-)
