Nikaim - I think it's sometimes harder to pull out of a race like that than to carry on, because pulling out means giving up on something you've training for and dreamed about for so long. You did the right thing - what Johnny says about the ambulance is so true, there were a lot of very poorly looking people about yesterday.

So sorry to hear a few had to pull out, but like Johnny says, better to do that then get yourself in a pickle. I've never seen so many runners being sick and needing help at the side of the road.

The heat was intense - my pace was absolutely consistent at 8.30 right through to about 21 miles, and I dropped down by a minute per mile to 9.30 for the last 5. I allowed myself to walk for 0.15 of a mile at 21, 22, 23 and 24 miles as I was absolutely fecked by then. Weird, as it just hit - was feeling great at fetchpoint at mile 19! Anyway, reckon I could gave been quicker by at least 10 minutes had it been cooler.

Yep, the heat was nasty, and i saw a fair few collapsed people
To those who had to drop out, you did the right thing, gutting though it is

I got a massive stitch for the first time ever at mile 20, but actually, considering how badly i do in heat, Im not displeased with a time of 4.32
And Fetchpoint was so awesome-Thank you
Saw LOADS of people I knew on the course, was great
even knew two of the helpers at the finish

The helpers were great. Fearless even.
'Heres a bottle of water for when you've stopped being sick, would you like a towel?'

I must have looked like hell, and I was very grateful!

Stayed around the finish for an hour to see others from the pace team home. I believe every pacer hit their Target.

Saw more people helped away than the rest of my running career added together and I have raced in some hot ones.

I can't imagine what it was like out there over four hours.

Respect indeed.

I think the power station comes at the wrong point in the race - so grim.

I chundered twice. Once without even stopping :-)

I might not have hit my targets, but being sick at the finish probably indicates that I couldn't have done much more on the day.
