lol lol that's me - raised on pollyanna - when I had a ligament injury I was happy that the crutches they gave me were new!

Do the race organisers have to pay businessesesses compensation for loss of takings when the road is closed? Police presence costs a lot of money and don't get me on the subject of hiring poortaloos...vay expensive. Then you have your first aid stations, cost of car parking (our local farmer charges us - the club,a £1 for every car for our race) Plus having to accomadate up to 12,000 potential runners must incur charges that smaller marathons don't have

Unless you have a big sponsor they would be lucky to break even at £20 entry fee

I love stuff too, I'll be happy with the biggest medal in the world when I finish ! Oh and finishing would make me pretty chuffed too :)

Brighton is almost comparable price-wise to Edinburgh which costs £40. My view is that London's entry fee is kept artificially low (aided by massive corporate sponsorship) to sustain its popularity.

A city marathon will always have massive overheads - road closures, policing, food/mementos for all the marshalls/helpers, whatever the council charge, loos, all the road cones/tape/barracades/fencing etc and organisations like St John's will expect a fee of some sort.

I Paid £40 for Edinburgh and I can't even run cos of blumming knee injury ! You can defer but I stil have to pay full wack again next year. I think Brighton's deferral fee is slightly less......which is a bonus :)

its a wig, only the fringe is purple, wore it recently to a friends 40th birthday bash- theme was wigs btw, I don't have a wierd wig thing going on lol.
