I am doing 14 this weekend as well, not planning any 20 milers until the end of Feb.

I am trying to do an 8 miler on a Saturday, followed by my LSR on a Sunday, the theory (in my head) is that if I can eventually manage a 22 miler on legs that ran 8 miles the day before, 26 miles on fresh legs will be great :-)

I am so pleased to read tere are folk who haven't run humungous distances in training yet - I was really regretting asking how the trianing was going (whilst obviously being delighted for all the superfit superdedicated runners out there who are ahead of the game). My longest in training so far this time round is 10 but that's what my shedule says so Yay I'm on target. I am not however as strong in my training this year as last - had a disastrous autumn when I should have been laying down a solid base (RIP Mum and Dad) and then had an uncooperatvie knee the other week. BUT I am looking forward to Brighton again and will hopefully not inexplicably blister 6 miles into it this year - doh!

Oh Mulbs I know all about inexplicable blisters! I could really feel these by mile 10 of VLM, absolutely no idea where they came from though. I had raced the Oakley 20 in the same shoes and done all my 18 mile + runs in them and my feet had been fine. Weird, huh?

I'm up to 18 as I know how I perform in marathons and I know I need a lot more LSR's than I've previously done.

Depending on how my heels hold out this week I'll be doing an 18 miler this weekend. However I couldn't manage 8.5 on the way home last night without both of my feet giving out so we'll see, I'm not bothered about missing one LSR as I know I've got a good base. Jesus that is the first time I've ever been able to say that whilst marathon training.

I'm ahead of schedule - partly because I was trained up for Luton and then it got cancelled. Also, because we're off to California in March and I want to have done up to 22 miles before we go in case I can't get any decent mileage in while we're away. Finally, I also want to know what it feels like to run a marathon when I have really trained as opposed to just enough to get by!
