Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've just entered Brighton - my first marathon. I used to live just outside and still have family there, so getting the pack the day before won't be an issue. I'm just targetting getting to the finish. London is my local - but noisy and chances of getting in are remote. I looked at others but I know I'm going to be at the back of the field, and I didn't want to be one of the very last runners. At least with Brighton and other big marathons, I know there are going to be people behind me.

JohnnyO: repeat loops of the road to hell!! With the finish at the Power station followed by a walk back to luggage at Preston park. Interested?

It could work, but they need to make the speed bumps bigger :)

I think loops of the power station, followed at the end by a triple switchback along the seafront with poorly controlled crowds. That would sort the wheat from the chaff.

Abseiling down the cliffs at Ovingdean would suit me

And they should make the steps back up to street level after the finish harder. Like a Gladiators style travelator or maybe a well greased slide.

Has anyone on here mentioned the water/fuel stations? Personally I found the water bottles tricky, especially in the latter stages, but maybe that's just me. I like the shot bloks, but found it odd having to grab a handful as I ran past! Will it be the same next year? Any other thoughts?

No, I loved those water pouches, best thing I have ever been given at a race.

Used my own gels rather than shotbloks, and don't like the powerade so didnt have that either.

The water pouches are great as you can get great distance as you throw them at random people in the crowd.

Ditto shotbloks.
