Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

:) RD - see u there -

training going well but am tweaking sessions to fit in with me -

only questions popping up is nutrition - i struggle to eat enough - altho i LOVE food :) calculated my protein and only got to 82g (had to glug down a couple of glasses of chocolate milk before bed!!)- should be getting about 85g. I am thinking of introducing maximuscle to my food - and see how palatable it is - anyone else use maximuscle?

Up the railway line - Hassocks, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and less than 25 mins train journey. Can't recommend any specific hotels as I haven't lived there for years.

i did a poll on how long/soon before a marathon should your buy your trainers u are going to run in - and it looks like between 1 and 2 months is the way to go.

i have looked at loads of trainers and not sure what to go for - i dont trust sales people - they just try to sell what is in the shop - the internet has a much larger range to choose from

i am looking for neutral cushioned - i prefer asics - but the patriot 5 i bought have lasted less than 200 miles and the fabric in the inside of heel is ripping :( my adidas with the same shelf life is giving me a better run atm - but somehow i think i would prefer to go with asics again as this was the first time i have had a problem with them - but know may just be a kinda hanging onto a brand name for no particular reason!

if the website says great for beginner runners doing medium mileage - what does this mean??

i run approx 30 miles a week - i don't want to consider myself a beginner either (altho i most probably am still considered that in running speak). I wear size 6 trainers and average width foot.

which shoes do those in the know recommend? - i am tired of trawling through pages and then not sure if i am looking for the right shoe! pleeez

I recommend whatever you run your long runs in now, with 50 miles on the clock.

Break them in. I was always told that 50miles is about right, though some shoes don't seem to need it.

If you wear the pair that you have been running in for 1-2 months then they will potentially be past their best.

If you have a pair of shoes that you're happy with, stick with that make, but buy new and put 50 miles into them, including one decent length run.

If you're not happy with your shoes then I'm sorry to say that I have to recommend a visit to your local specialist running shop. An hour spent looking at your feet, speaking to you about what you want and then letting you try out as many pairs as you need to is far better than taking recommendations off the internet and then buying something that suits someone else online.

Local running shops want return trade, not just to offload the shoes they have in stock. They know that if you've had a good service on your first visit, you'll be happy going in and talking to them about your other running needs.

I have to admit to being low tech about these things...I just wear the pair I am currently running and wear them till they have lots of holes in. When they get withdrawn I buy the next closest looking.

I wouldnt buy marathon shoes unless my were running out
