there is no getting away from the fact that this is a pricey race, but it is a superb event held in a great city with oodles of support.
I paid £45 this morning but I know I am in - no ballot, no waiting untill October for a crap magazine to land on the hallway carpet telling me that I was'nt successful in the ballot again. 2013 will be my 4th time running this and I cant wait, my OH ran her first marathon at Brighton on Sunday and loved every minute of it, she phoned me on her way to work to ensure that I enter us both for next year

I am in for the third year in a row. Missed out on the £45 places as too busy at work to apply at 9am so had to settle for the £55 entry.
It is a great race for your first marathon DPM

apologies DPM if I appeared negative about what you're doing for your first marathon, my comment wasn't meant that way at all. Presonally I just can't afford it on top of the other races I want to do this year and spring 2013 which are costing me enough anyway. There's enough of them after all
It will be an amazing first marathon, from what I've read around here I don't think you could have chosen much better. It'll be a fantastic day, and I'd love to do it myself and I will hopefully do it soon.

I was interested, but I need to OK it with my other half first, and I can't do that until I get home. I'm not paying 55 quid for a marathon, so I'm out.

Didn't take it badly at all NS. It does mean an overnight stay, so it is expensive. But I have told the OH it is a mini break away! Suspect he won't fall for that more than once esp as he will need to pay for the hotel room. :-D

although i don't mind paying a lot if it is well-organised, which i hear it is.

It's expensive, but tbh the entry fee is probably the least of the costs for me once I've added travel and accommodation and food and post race beer so £10 here or there doesn't make a huge difference. Everything I've heard about it is overwhelmingly positive, which is more tempting for me than a cheap badly organised race.
