I said I was going to do something else next year, but then my finger slipped and I appear to have entered this one again!
Next year I am going to stay somewhere on the Saturday night, I'm fed up with the early morning start/travel even though it's not particularly arduous.

Due to my kids being sick I had to go down/come back on my own, so I didn't get to really enjoy it after, which was a shame, I had been dreaming of a cold beer on the sea front all week. I was a bit miffed you had to pick up your number from the expo, I'd like an option to pay an extra fiver if you wanted it posted out. The crowds were very good and it really helped a lot, but don't expect them to line every inch of the way. The section heading out the furthest spot was much hillier than expected and quite desolate, the power station section is a bit grim too, but that may be accentuated by the current mental/physical state! Aid stations were great, all helpers were fantastic also. I doubt I'd do it again, that's probably because there's so many others to do! I wouldn't advise against it though either.

I'm definitely going to do this next year. I entered the race this year and then went and sprained my ankle the Thursday before the race! What an idiot!
I still went down to Brighton with my wife and daughter as we'd already booked the hotel and train tickets. We had a great time - my daughter loved collecting shells and stones from the beach, and she loved the rides on the pier. We cheered on the runners too, although I was feeling a bit annoyed that I wasn't out there after doing all those long runs. Still, it makes me all the more determined to this next year. And the fatalities in Brighton and Boston really make my complaints fade into insignificance.

Where's the best place to stay? I'm not getting caught out this time.
I'm planning on dragging the OH with me next year, although he might not agree. I know that lots of hotels want you to book for a minimum of 2 night but we (or I) will only be staying for one night, Saturday.
B&B? Near the start, I guess, as we'll have to have checked out by finish time.

But is there any point being close to the finish if we'll already have checked out? I can understand if you are staying on Sunday night and want to go back for a shower, etc, but I'll just be changing, having a drink and going back to London.
Won't I be better off staying nearer to the start, so I can get up later?

I'd have thought the Travelodge would be best. That would be my plan if I were to do it again.

Well, I put all my stuff from the Saturday night stay in my car, then asked the hotel to hold my car keys. I was 2 miles from the finish, so I got a cab back....if you're by the finish, you can just stroll back after the finish pick your gear up and go.

Thanks everyone. I'll sit down with Mr. M this evening and have a look at the suggestions.
That's after I tell him that I've entered again, obviously ....!
