Just found this on RW - thought people may be interested - sounds like good news to me
"Message from the Race Director:
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions following this year's Brathay Windermere Marathon. The comments highlighting the problems we encountered with car parking, access and egress from the site have been particularly useful. As a result we have reviewed our approach to car parking and have worked with Brathay's landowner to make improvements for 2010. The result is that we've developed a solution that uses a field adjacent to the Brathay Estate as the main event car park. This will greatly improve access and remove the conjestion created by cars leaving the event sharing the same section of road with runners completing the Marathon. We are confident that this alternative arrangement will resolve many of the problems encountered this year.
Thank you for your support of Brathay Hall Trust. The funds raised by this event go to improve the lives of some of the UK's most disadvantaged children and young people.
Best Wishes, Scott"

That's excellent news
We were planning to stay at Brathay Hall to avoid the parking issues, but might book accommodation elsewhere now.

Yep - Tremendous. We were thinking the same as you V'rap. The car park did get a bit messy at the end so fingers crossed for next year

Excellent - to be honest it didn't take us as long to get out as at one time I feared it might - about half an hour, but this sounds like a much better solution. btw - a friend who missed out on a medal got hers in the post a week or so back - I assume everyone who missed out has also received theirs?

Good news about the parking - I was thinking of parking about a mile away from the site next year, and walking to and from the car

Quite difficult to park one mile away in either direction without an Ambleside residents' permit

Well I was staying at Ambleside YHA, so got a cab with some other runners to the start.
I just walked back after the race

We'll probably take our chance with the parking next year, and stay somewhere a bit less expensive than Brathay Hall, although the accommodation there is very good
