Hellen it is significantly more hilly than Ashby, but it's also significantly more beautiful which more than makes up for it;)

it's a bit more hilly, but i wouldn't say significantly hillier. I wouldn't class it as an exceptionally hard course.
hellen - send the papers home registered post? If that's allowed?

thanks for the info on the course, 2000ft sounds fine, I did that at the weekend on a 19mile run.
I could send the papers home registered but the issue now is more getting home afterwards! With it being a 10.30 start that means I will take hopefully just under 5 hours, the last train back is just before 5 which is cutting it a bit fine. Alternatively I have been kindly offered a lift back to mansfield but the last train home from there is 8pm and if there is lots of traffic on the way home I might not catch that train (not sure what time my lift wants to leave)
Part of me is thinking that I shouldnt do it not cos I should look at the bigger picture and save myself for Edinburgh but then I think that if Edinburgh is hot I will run rubbish anyway so may as well have done it. I could always do this next year but next year Vrap and elbee will not be doing teh 10 in 10 (well I asume not!!!) which is really the main reason I thought about doing this.

Hellen,
if it was my problem, i would probably concentrate on Windermere this year and enjoy the whole weekend experience, plus Vrap and elbee as you say, are the main reason for doing it.
Edinburgh should take care of itself when it arrives, starting off downhll and basically flat there after you'll be fine... and as for it being hot...... hmmm Go for it.
