Davy - the Bad Press he would get if he were to enforce that would be a PR disaster for him!

Was just wondering ? I'm guessing Steve Edwards has more than the £130 on his Justgiving page & they won't be booting him out.
Seemed alot of folks weren't even close to a grand.
it would be bad PR as at the moment he'd only have 2 runners !!

I saw you guys were well over halfway, Aly's almost there & Gareth is at 2/3rds
I'm sure anyone raising funds is struggling this year more than previous given the financial side of things.

V'rap, there may be no obligation to raise money, but that's not the impression I got this morning when I received 3 emails about fundraising from the "Head of fundraising" at Brathay. I haven't read all the info yet, but what I have read *seems* to imply that they're expecting (rather than hoping or requesting) that I will raise money for them.
At least I know they've got my entry, and I realise they do need to raise funds, but I think their approach is a bit heavy-handed and presumptious. Then again, this is my first marathon entry, so I don't know if it is normal to get bombarded in this way.

PJL, I got that impression from the same three e-mails here, but you have paid for your place, so no real pressure.

Interesting! I've done the marathon the past two years and not felt any pressure whatsoever to raise funds was applied. If Scott is doing things that get up people's noses regarding fundraising expectations, I think that ought to be fed back.

I got those e-mails too, but I suspect that as the head of fundraising he's just doing his job; he does acknowledge somewhere that not everyone will be raising money for Brathay.

I'm ok I have worked for charities for 20 year, but someone new to maras and fundraising might feel the pressure.

Lets face it must be getting tougher out there for charities given the credit crunch, I'm sure the first Direct debit to go for most when tightening their belts is funds to charity.
