Thanks el Bee. This is my first full marathon. Could have picked an 'easier' one but this apparently is very scenic so i might as well kill myself around an area of beauty!

eL Bee!
TR - It is a lovely marathon. And if you approach it with an "I'm just going to enjoy this occasion" mindset - then you couldn't have picked a better marathon.
Get some really good quality training in between now and the marathon, and you'll have a cracking day A couple of the hills are quite steep - and it's not the kind of marathon that you can go at with a rigid pace goal. But sticking to the maxim of - "If it feels easy, slow down" in the early stages will make the last few miles far more enjoyable. Most first time marathoners go off way to fast at the start - and rteally suffer for it later on. And Windermere is tough like that - because the first half is hillier than the second half !!

eL Bee! Thanks for the advice, it does sound like a lot of sense. Have i read correct that you are doing 10 marathons in 10 days. I'd like to cheer you on in Windermere but i can only do that if you give me a 2 hour start!!

Don't say things like that - you scare me!

Lizzie....!!!!! < looks over virtual half-moon glass in an admonishing fashion >
Next year!
You made the RIGHT decision not to run this this year, and just because people like me go over the top about it, you have to remember that I've run this course 3 times, will again before the challenge, and have run the marathon distance quite a few times now!
TR - I'm sure that we'll all be milling around on the Sunday Train well, and enjoy the experience

Yes eL Bee. Sorry eL Bee. Did I mention a little hillwalking I'm doing round Beachy Head in October instead?
TR - don't be scared!

And as a timescale - a much more sensible option.

Lizzie - you just did a 2.24 half marathon! If you wanted to do it, you definitely could. Especially with an extra 6 mths of training. But you have to want it - no-one else should force you into it x
