Velociraptor
What a perfect day for a small amble round a big lake. We thoroughly enjoyed it - 4:26:41 of running-time, 26.46 miles (we started at the Hall rather than on the road) and a stop for coffee and shortbread at the Beech Hill Hotel, 17 miles in.
It's snowing now, but it only started when we were nearly finished

Where's a green smiley when you want one?
Please tell me you stopped the watch when you went for the coffee and shortbread... ...you didn't, did you

We certainly did, Hekkel. After all, it wasn't a race
(It would, however, have been my 4th fastest marathon with a marathon split of 4:23:04.)

Well done, Foxy Davy
Hippo, yes, it is, by less than a minute. I've only trained for and raced a handful of marathons ... three, actually, and two of those were slower than today's outing.

I think another course recce or two is required, to suss out the potential of some more local hostelries as mid-run fuelling-stations
The Beech Hill Hotel is Much Too Smart For Sweaty Runners and had a posh luncheon event going on, but we got the warmest welcome imaginable. I got slightly prodded by a bloke who must have had bad eyesight because he obviously didn't realise that the hi-viz bird was at least as old as he was.

OK we're relying on you! When I did it in 07 my hubby met me with coffee bananas and fresh socks at 14/15 miles, which was nice. When I got to Bowness, the smell of chips and burgers made me feel a bit sick, so preferably somewhere on that long pull up before Windermere if you can manage it... ..not being fussy at all!

I can see an opportunity for a Hostess Trolley which uses the rotation of the wheels to generate heat to keep sustaining food warm and tastey for the duration.
Where did I put Sir Clive Sinclair's phone number?
