RwM - yes it is good RfL training - I'm sure that there are a crowd of ladies with similar aims. And we'll all make her welcome. If looks at the photos and video I'm sure that she'll be reassured.

The BRTT course is a bit a hilly compared to most RfL. I suggest that she either does 1-lap option or at least takes it easy on the first lap. There are plenty of folk walk up the hills. Remember that you need to bring your own water.

That was a toughy today. Dogs, hangover, no Garmin... excuses excuses!

Regarding the dogs & the lady who owns two of the dogs that got in our way today (I think she had a friend with her who owns the white dog), I met her after I PB's in May when we took our dog for a post race walk (Mrs 26.2 bought our dog to watch the run). She seemed very nice & is very passionate about dogs (she commits loads of time to her dogs which I think came from rescue homes and had a dreadful start in life). If she is the one who has complained to the council I might have another chat with her. My view is that (as Bob quite rightly said today) we have no special privileges on the park even between 9am and 10am on Saturday mornings BUT the park is a shared public space which we all have a right to use. As dog walkers get used to the fact that we trot around the park for 30ish minutes a week, surely they won't mind altering their walk routes or keeping their dogs on a tight lead for short period of time? If someone has complained I think a bit of gentle hearts and minds might help.
I don't think anyone wants a dog walkers vs runners war. As a dog owner and runner I'm painfully aware that dogs love to get in runners way, jog along with us try (and often succeed) to run faster than us - which is why when my 6 month old dog chases a runner in my local park I run after the dog and get her on a lead as soon as possible. Runners are never angry at me or my dog for this, because I do all I can to prevent it happening, when it happens I do all I can to rectify the situation and always apologise. I didn't see much of that today. Let's make sure we get the moral upper hand - when we see a dog in our path, slow down (I hated doing that today and know it's annoying to have to do so), but if one dog gets injured, the Bramhall Park Time Trial might be in danger. I did see one runner "hurdle" a dog today - I hope there isn't another complaint.

I talked to park keeper who observed race today. He was pleased and accepts that the complaint wasn't justified.

Like Steve said most dog walkers are friendly and have adapted to our presence.

Now I just have to tackle the duck poo which is getting out of hand.

Jen - hope your back is OK.

My first today and certainly won't be my last. My aim was to get around without walking and that's exactly what I did and got a new pb while I was at it. Lovely park and route, great marshalling and a friendly atmosphere, what more can you ask for. :)
