I've tried to persuade the cafe to open earlier but unfortunately they are council run and steadfastly refuse to open their big black gates before 10:05. Just after we've all gone in fact.
I was cross that marathonfoto did Wilmslow this year. It just means that less runners end up feeling ripped off especially when the race entry isn't cheap. Much better to have someone who supports running like Mick Hall, together with a few amateurs.

I think the rise of certain 'foto' companies is inevitable. Unfortunately their prices become intrinsically linked with the race so for a good race like Wilmslow its the usual gripes about chips and price but with an expensive photo thrown in that people assume is linked to the organisers.
Personally love the photos that the guys take at Bramhall and I sincerely thank them for it. Its a very nice touch to a very friendly run that just adds to the occasion. Bryan Dale is another who doesn't charge the earth.........

I assume that the race gets a cut of the foto price but I imagine that very few people buy. Personally I think it is better that more people get a souvenir photo which adds to their warm memories of the race.
You're right Bryan Dale is a good 'un - his photos are free to download.
Mick Hall makes a job of it which is also fair enough and he also organises races etc.
A nice thing about the BRTT photos is that you tend to see the group that you're running with and a bit of the scenery. Which is more what it feels like at the time. Rather than an isolated shot of you grimacing alone.

Rob, Pity about the cafe not opening, it would add more to the already good atmosphere around the race/event. A symptom of our council I'm afraid (I could rant for pages about the charging policy at our local authority sports centres....). The Stockport race we are organising on 22nd June relies on volunteers to watch over the electronic timing boxes we will be using,we had been assured there was no problem, the council could provide all the volunteers needed and have just confirmed they can provide 1. So, if there are any BRTT runners who would be willing to help it would be much appreciated, if you are not entering of course!! The only skill needed is to be able to sit/sunbathe/watch over the kit - nothing to onerous.
On the subject of photos for races like Wilmslow, with a bit of gentle persuasion I'm sure you could get together a group of BRTT photographers to cover the event and offer photos for a more reasonable amount??
