TBB - we aren't really allowed to open the white gate anyway but really there are narrow bits / turns just after that so I think best to thin down at that point. I suppose that to miss the crush you have the option to sprint the first hill - and risk burn out by lap 2 ;). Agreed Homer. |

I always hit it hard and burn out, usually along the top, on the wooded section and still on lap 1. Could the race ever become a victim of it's own success? Would you ever have to put a limit on the amount of people who could run? |

That wooded section is turning out to be my No.1 overtaking spot

Might make my 2009 BRTT debut this Saturday. On current for anything sub 21 would be a bonus.

Got GNW Half in Blackpool on Sunday so won't be there. Should think it would be self-limiting wouldn't it marshallini? If it gets too busy and crowded some people will stop coming. Haven't heard any of the other parkruns having to turn people away. |

I'm hoping to be back on March 7th (local inter club race this Sunday and Cloud 9 the week after) I improved my time on every run last year, but I wouldn't get near my best at the moment, so I'll just forget about them and start from scratch, if I could get close to19 dead that would be a result! 2008 best - 18:13 . [19:56 - 19:19 - 19:09 - 18:40 - 18:33 - 18:18 - 18:13] 2009 target - 17:59 ; ) |

given the technical challenges of the course layout how much quicker would a time on this course relate to one on a totally flat layout without all the sharp turns etc? most probably will be there with the spykid and will not have to rush back and miss the food although we did get a decent macdonalds breakfast instead.... |

30-45s is about right - although this is in good conditions when you are used to the course. The guy who runs Athleticsdata.com kindly sent me these interesting stats comparisons. If the links work they are very interesting and more or less confirm above on average. athleticsdata.com and a recent "prototype" feature is same but also showing 10K pb http://www.athleticsdata.com/rankings/rankinglist.aspx?event=5K&agegroup=ALL&sex=O&alltime=y&limit=18%3a00&venue=Bramhall&columns=~ PB_10K |

BTW athleticsdata is a great site but they only record performances to meeting Athletics Weekly results criteria.
