Noooooo, Platt Fields. We need to encourage running in the inner city not out in leafy Cheshire, or Derbyshire, or wherever Lyme Park is.

Platt Fields would be far too close to the Alex Park 5k surely ????? I'm up for Lyme park...The Cage across to Bowstones via the woods and back. Brilliant.

Lyme Park is miles from Manchester, that I do know. If one of the objects of Parkrun is to make races accessible to people who don't necessarily have public transport then that nor Tatton Park hit the spot at all. And the Alex Park 5k isn't free.

It is very, very early days but the ideas are Platt Fields (hopefully involving Uni) and/or Heaton Park. Both ideal venues - depending on where you live of course. I'm aware that Platt Fields is next door to Alex Park and I wouldn't want to tread on their toes. But I think that 9am Saturday is probably a different crowd from noon Sunday.
Who knows the way it is growing at Bramhall we might be forced into Woodbank / Vernon Park as well.
But if anyone would like to start a parkrun somewhere in NW then let me know. Really it is just a case of getting a group together who are (between them) willing to turn out every Sat morning. I can help you with the rest. Or if you'd be interested in joining forces with others in the above 2 parks.
Lyme Park and beyond is my favourite place to run but not really parkrun - that needs public transport, traffic free, wide all-weather paths - ha ha like we have at Bramhall ;).

Lots of folk talking about the congestion on Saturday. Not too bad as the field splits quick after 1k...the BRTT seems to have been a HUGE success ... well done bob and team!
I wonder where people travel from?

el Bee - you can get a low res by clicking the photo so that it appears in a new window - then right click save as.
If you want a hi res for print then I have ones from the "Catherine" folder - fmail me the file name. I can ask for copies from the "Annette" folder. Annette took some particularly good ones this week.

Unfortunately we don't collect runners postcode so we don't know. I get the impression that they are about 50% Bramhall / Cheadle area with most of the rest Stockport / S. Manchester. But certainly people travelling from N. Manchester, Warrington, Homerland etc.
