The great Emil Zatopek runningpast.com used to do some of his interval training carrying his wife (who was a javelin thrower so presumably a good bit bigger than GSL). Sorry if I messed the thread up a bit but we're supposed to call it parkrun now - TT was a bit off putting to beginners and also it isn't a TT - so they did have to cahnge the name. |

I'll be the donkey then jolguk. I posted up the RoTM last night - considered Homer - but that could have just been a flash in the pan. |

I bought some mulled wine spices last night for the 20th, although I've never made mulled wine before, and will be out with the girls on the 19th, so maybe you won't want to taste it. I'm intending to run that day, no matter how slowly/impeded.

No flash in the pan Seriously though, I would like to carry on this speed lark and make sub-20 more normal. Last year I did a 19:56 at Alexandra Park then rested on my laurels while doing marathon training. I lost the speed then the excuses started....Having now done it on a cold, Bramhall....I have to repeat it...this time though I KNOW I can do it.....and I hope to do it more often and push further. **** Who's up for a sub-20 on Jan 3rd? ***** I think the tips were great and made me do a couple of things differently.... You are likely to finish in the top 20 so make sure that you take this position on the starting grid to avoid losing time at the start........I started at the front and will do again next time Are you taking a breather when out of sight in the woodland section .......I think I always slowed on this stretch before and this time I actually pushed and it wasn't as bad as I thought Take notice of your time at halfway.......I did a 9:40 first lap and though the hill to the cafe was tough I was already thinking those little thoughts that I had 20 seconds in the bag Interval training .......yup |
