Got a shock when I saw my time 21:54. I had it down as 22:40something. I think theres a bit of a mix up as the lad who came in just behind me was down as 22:44.

Kwaka - it was my lad you finished just ahead of! He obviously didn't take my advice about sprint finishes. Interesting what you say about the finishing times because my wife finished around 26:2x on her watch but is given 26:12 on the results. It could be that there there is a mismatch of 1 place between the finishing position and finishing time i.e you should have the time listed for the 22nd place (22:44) which would give my lad 22:45. This would also give my wife who finished in 41st a time of 26:26 rather than the 26:12 in the results. This fits in with her watch time.

Is it not gun time v start-watch-as-you-cross-the-line time though Andy? That's what I put the discrepancy down to. Doesn't matter though does, if you're just trying to beat your own time next race. Speedy lad you have there Andy!

I'm not sure how they do the timing, but since I'll volunteer soon I should probably find out. I'm not bothered about the time myself and in anycase if there is a mix up its made everyone faster! He is speedy though considering he's only 10. I won't be able to keep up with him soon, especially if he grows a bit. Its interesting that kids can do these races because you can compare times with adults. Normally he only does cross country or track sprints, so it's hard to tell how fast he is over 'standard' road race distances.

Really enjoyed this one - thanks to the enthusiatic marshalls. Also good to meet up with people again. I may also do Alex Park on Sunday as I've not one of those for a while.

Andy - he came up very quick on me at the end. I overtook him around the 1mile mark but he hung onto the back of me all the way round. I glanced over my shoulder when I crossed the last bridge and thought I'd better stride out a bit and listen for speedy footsteps towards the finish. He was sprinting at the end and might have caught me if it was a longer run in for the final straight. Well done to him.
Not too bothered about the time myself as I knew what my watch said at the end.
