bob - a bit off subject, but do you have to pay the council for using the park?

No - which is fortunate bcs I don't get any money from anyone either.
I know that in London they have to pay the parks which they then cover by getting funding from the council. To their credit SMBC didn't suggest this. But as we don't pay they could stop us whenever they like.
I am liable for damage so no running in the flowerbeds please

They seem to have changed the rules this year as we've not had to fork out for holding our races. They've just given permission for them to go ahead.

One word of caution, don't forget this forum is open to all. I know of a couple of cases where clubs have had issues with people complaining, where some comments on the forums have been really inappropriate. Don't forget anyone can Google "Bramhall Park Run" and start reading what we are saying. This thread comes in at #4.
Keep the approach positive as Bob says.

Good point DM.
BTW Manc Girl it's a great thing you do at Gatley with the schools XC. All those kids charging along the field at the start is an amazing sight.

RB it is indeed an impressive sight, apparently Gatley Schools XC is a bit of a south manchester institution - Some of the parents of the kids that run it with my daughter can remember running it when they were primary school age
All 3 of my daughters have done it over the years, my youngest is in year 6 now so it's my final year of standing in the mud, freezing with only cup a soup from the kiosk to prevent hypothermia

What are the rules about dogs participating in the race? I saw one cross the line with their owner last time I did one.
I fancy doing this myself, but am not going to do it if it spoils the run. I certainly will wair a few minutes after the "gun" before starting - a sub 20 min attempt with a dog would be reckless!

In theory running with dogs is allowed at parkruns (subject to sensible rules) but I can't say that I've encouraged this. You can see that dog and lead doesn't necessarily combine well with inexperienced runner, narrow paths, 130 runners, kids etc.
There is one sometimes that trots along near the back and I've not heard of any problems. Ultra Dunc has a huge hound but I think that is more of a spectator dog.
Obviously Steve you know what you're doing so yes give it a go and let me know if it works. If nothing else I'm sure that it would amuse the dog walkers - who will have someone to support.

I've considered doing it a few times but as she's only 11 months old I'd start late, keep her on lead and drop her out if she starts "nyippin".
I might enter her on Friday...
