Yes - you might run quite a bit faster more relaxed. Easier said than done. But one way is to concentrate on relaxing your shoulders - in many running things it is easy to control your arms and often the legs follow. Also just keep thinking "smoother is faster" - it usually is.

Christian has good natural speed but (ironically for a triathlete) sometimes fades in the second lap. It was good to see him finally win in the park - hopefully a confidence booster. With plenty of years on his side he'll beat us all soon enough.

If you weren't saving yourself for the XC and had run I think everyone would've been one place down the results list.

Just watched it again and when I pass I was running pretty much flat out (for a 5k) but it looks like I'm plodding.

LOL - I'll speed up the video when I have the tools. if you want to see plodding come to the XC. Like me you probably don't spectate very often. It always surprises me how slow everyone appears to run - even the good athletes just look to be running smoothly rather than really fast.

This is the previous BRTT video - if you watch carefully you can see me well out-sprinted at the finish. And a young Stockport lad showing how it should be done (other than the look back).

Unfortunately it was cancelled - the wedding not the 5k.

Good to see DM running round - even with the revised course he was "accounted for" ;).

Results are up on the website. We had to modify the course at the last minute due to gas pipeline works but I think that it was approx. correct distance.
