Ruskie pole vaulting ladies famously break the world record by tiny amounts at every athletics meeting so that they can claim a big WR bonus everytime. So in your case you might enjoy 6 successive 10s PBs more than 1 big minute.

The weather was rubbish but amazingly 92 runners finished BRTT and that didn't include the lady who ran a 3rd lap and was only found as we were packing up. Also Malcolm ran the 2nd fastest time ever (16:48) and I think the JM14 record went too.

Hello peeps, I'm quite likely to be doing this on Saturday. I usually do the Leeds one, but I'm going on holiday on Saturday afternoon and staying in an airport hotel overnight because I've got something over in that direction on Friday night and it's not worth driving home then back again. Check in for my flight is only at 4pm, and I get chucked out of the hotel at 12 so there should be plenty of time to do a 5k, have some breakfast, get back to the hotel, shower and get on my way.

What is the course like?

windy. that's lots of turns & corners, not full of air.

I don't mind a hill or two, just trying to work out how PB worthy it is. It will make a change from Leeds anyway.

Bob - aahhh, I get what you mean now.

When I get to world record 10k times I might adopt that strategy ;-)

RB - it was an impressive turn out on Sat morning given the weather, I was debating going home and back to bed when the heavens opened up just as I arrived :-) Started off trying to avoid puddles/mud but gave up after a bit and just ploughed through the middle of them, trainers are just about dry now ;-)

YP1 - we look forward to welcoming you to BRTT. Have a look at the photos on website and video at

You'll probably have to leave your PB at home - and instead look forward to enjoying the scenery. Overall it about 40s slower than a flat road 5k.

I believe that HPTT is pancake flat where as we are undulating, mixed terrain and some sharp turns. But there's never adull moment as you loop through the park and woods which certainly suits some people to the extent that they post a faster time.

Yep - turn at wooden bridge is definitely sharp and to be tackled with care when its wet as I found out on Saturday :-)
