So, I'm supposed to be doing this mad 17 mile slightly lumpy fell race in August and haven't got a clue how to train for it seeing as though I'm only just back in to it.

Have I time to get prepared?

When should I do my LRs?

'slightly lumpy' a phrase worth recounting on your way up bessyboot.

if your fitness is ok to get you through the time you expect to take then the main thing to concentrate on would be leg strength. there is enough serious climbing and descending to trash your quads, which can make dale head and last drop through the mines a misery.

I think the whole thing is going to be a misery but I just want to get round and make the cut off this year.

And not be last.

2 Flat Feet
Chromey, if you don't want to be last I suggest your best preparation would be to recruit a number of slower runners to run it with you ;-) I have used that tactic before now, hence the number of ex-runners in my friend lists

unless your surname is bland, lightfoot, etc there isn't actually much running time. so if you're chasing a time make sure you use what there is. that means the flat bit at the start, (dont get boxed in at the back), the leg from beesyboot to esk hause, (dont burn out up bessyboot), and the stretch from green gable to honnister, (worth a recce as surprisingly easy to wander in clag).
