I can't imagine jack teacher would ever pay for dinner all that loose change rattling about and hitting people in the eye while he swings around buildings ... I gave it a 9 for its feelgoodedness. I found the framing a bit tedious. I remembered the film too much. But it was still charming and snappy and rather sweet and after a decent pause I'll try another by the same author

I loved this - superb dialogue, characters, plot, satire on Hollywood - what more do you want?!
I'd only read one other EL before (52 Pick-up, which I enjoyed) and I am now a confirmed Elmore Leonard fan, whcih is great cos I now have *dozens* more books to look forward to :-D
I'm a *big* fan of the movie though, so although I wanted to give the book 10, I dropped it to 9 cos I think the movie's slight alterations are in all the right places/directions

So I came to this very late....

I really enjoyed it and it's not something I would have otherwise picked up. I liked the interplay of 'real' life and the movies, and I loved Chili. I thought it was quite clever, yet light and well-written. I think I will try one of his others soon. I also want to see the movie. I gave it an 8.

Elmore Leonard's a really good writer Linds, I've read loads. It was ages ago but I feel a re-read coming on! Remind me at our next meet up.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure we've got some of his on the shelves somewhere. Or my Mum has.

About thirty since I read The Switch, but I recall it being my favourite.
