Here's a thread for discussion of Complicity by Iain Banks, the main book for Feb 2015 as chosen by Daz the Slug

Just started it. Never read any Ian Banks before *hangs head in shame*. Quite enjoying it so far.

Ooh I read this years ago and then again. Shall I read it for the third time then? I love Iain Banks. My mum bought this for me as a Christmas present above mentioned years ago. She had a quick flick through before purchasing and admitted this to me. I think she must've opened it at certain page where *cough* the story hots up as she made a pretend shocked face. |

I hadn't read any Iain Banks before either. Had to make myself slow down and stop trying to finish it on the bus to work this morning. I didn't want to race the end so I spent the whole day at work looking forward to getting on the bus and finishing the book. I really enjoyed this. I found it easy to read and gripping. I liked the way that the crimes/torture scenes were written with "you" as the subject..."You hear the car after an hour and a half" so that, from the very first sentence of the novel you (the reader) are complicit. I shall think more but would love to hear other people's thoughts. I can see why Iain Banks seems to have a real devoted following and why there was such an outpouring of sadness at his death. I will read more. Anyone want to recommend which one I should read next? |

Thanks, McG I imagine I will give both a go. Maybe Crow Road first. |

You'll know if you're going to love it from the opening sentence
