For February 2018 Greppers has enchosen A Wizard of Earthsea by recently deceased top author Ursula K Le Guin. Please share your thoughts below. No, not those ones. I meant your thoughts about the book. Beware. Here be spoilers. |

Re: UKLeG - yes, the news she died was what got us all talking about her on the main thread so I think that made her naturally a choice for this month.

Great memories of reading the books many, many years ago... and more recently to my children. But should I pause and take any comments elsewhere? What is this book thread of which you speak?

Loved this as a child and loved re-reading it to oldest son. Got a lot more out of it reading it as an adult.

I loved the first three Earthsea books as a child so this was a reread for me. Not sure how c9 will find it as the female characters are all largely unsympathetic but Ged and Vetch and the shadow that Ged unleashed and shapes are all great portrayals. I found more familiar from Tolkien and from Philip Pullman than expected. It was a bit like a warm bath I think I might have to dig out the next two |
