I love Andy Miller and the Backlisted podcast, I’m sure I’ve recommended it many times on here.

I enjoyed that. Much more than the book I’m currently stuck on. Tbf I don’t lose my reading mojo very often and studying has not helped

At the risk of being an apologist for popular fiction yet again, Lee Child is a far, far better write than most of the crew he’s normally bracketed with.

Patterson and Connolly were always good fun in their cameos on Castle, mind.

A Christmas Party has arrived in my porch. But I'm going to finish Half of a Yellow Sun before I start it.

Thank you for the link, Chrisull; I enjoyed it. Especially, as you (and/or someone else) said, the final paragraph. It reminded me of Lucy Mangam's "Bookworm".

I’ve stalled again with London Belongs To Me. Just when I’m getting into it moves to another scene which is hard work.

I finished The Power this morning. I can't remember whether we've discussed it. I thought the idea was really interesting, and some parts were v clever, but ultimately I felt like the good idea was wasted. The characters were not well-drawn, and there was way too much unnecessary violence. It has left me thinking, but also with a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth.

It was recommended to me (by a bloke) but I gave up on The Power after a section or two and a load of skipping. I didn't like the writing and found myself strangely un-engaged.

The author (on a A Good Read I think) said she really didn't like Normal People. Go figure.

I read it a couple of years ago (I think) and had a similar reaction: an interesting idea that didn’t know where to go.
