I don’t get that in any way from it. I think it’s funny, clever and insightful. It’s particularly good on the work-place and the exploitation of the worker, especially the downtrodden employee looking to gain any small victory. The characters are well-drawn and interesting. It’s good to see a working class people (especially the female characters) portrayed in a way that isn’t patronising or tangential. So much literature is about the middle-class. Yes, there is the theme of getting even which is taken to a ludicrous extent for effect, but that is not the crux of book. And anyway, poor old Christy gets his comeuppance in the end, suggesting that perhaps there is such a thing as natural justice.
