Bone conduction headphones: could they settle the argument about listening to music during races?

By now you'll have probably seen many discussions here about how using personal music players whilst training/racing is either terrible and should result in instant disqualification/defenestration/incarceration or that it's actually absolutely fine.

Whilst I have my own opinion on the matter, the more experienced amongst you will have kept as wide a berth as I have from such discussions. Expressing an opinion about this is a mistake that you only make once!

Anyway, here's the thing. Bone conduction headphones. I don't think this is especially new technology, but I've not seen it marketed before. Have a read of the article (which is on a cycling blog, but it's equally relevant to running), but the key thing is that the headphones "allow users to hear their music clearly while still being aware of their surroundings".

I'd say their more a bone of contention that conduction, snarf snarf!
