Ah, yes - just read that. He'd have been OK without a bus this year I think, the bridge he had issues with is open to cyclists 24/7 now. But having an enforced rest also seemed a good idea!

Once he caught up with his schedule, he's sticking with it pretty tightly. Not sure if just the way his natural pace is working out today, or he's deliberately holding something back

3:28 for leg 1 is pretty impressive, given what he's already put behind him.

Very impressive in the circumstances

Next time I do a 60 mile run in the mountains I’m getting straight on the bike afterwards ;-)

hmm, maybe an old bike to pootle around on would help with the parking issues - cycle to and from a day's walking...

(oddly, I may well have a bike with me next trip as it needs to be returned to youngest from being in Carlisle with daughter, I just haven't tried riding one for a long while!)

Maybe a glitch with the signal? The seconds are utterly ridiculous

It's corrected now he's actually done SS :)
Just a couple of minutes ahead of schedule - ignore the seconds - until he hits one precisely (30s off isn't bad tbf ;) )

Corrected now on the live view with Seat Sandal 14:37 (and 40 seconds!).

If you’re going well the descent off Seat Sandal is one of the highlights of a BG. It’s a brilliant descent and you’ve a bacon butty and a mug of tea to look forward to (or a good handful of sports drink powder). The secret is not to raise your eyes across the way to Steel fell, although that’s not as bad as it looks and you’re not going to be running it
