You thinking about having a crack at the Fellsman Dave?? I nearly took up an offer to partner a mate who did it last year and is trying to improve on her time from last year. I ran the first part of the course with her earlier this year in shite conditions and I'm still having nightmares about coming back into Ingleton frozen solid, soaked through and shaking like a nervous Yorkshire Terrier. Different terrain than the Lakes, still tough though. Fellsman is supposed to be a good marker for the BGR, I forget what the time equivalents are though.

Not doing the Bullock Smithy this year and wouldn't have minded a crack at the Fellsman after reading on the site that there were a few places available last week. v. good BG preparation although the Old County Tops next weekend will do fine.
Dave - My clubmate tells me that you're supporting on the Wasdale to Honister leg for my 3rd June attempt? Looking forward to meeting you
I'm thinking about squeezing in one last recce or supporting an attempt the weekend before.

It's all got a little confusing as to who I'm supporting as I'm being a demanding tart Leg 4 on a Saturday sounds about right

bugger , I read this to catch up on bgr news and how dave is getting on and I see something about the fellsman not full when I had assumed it was sold out like most years . of course its far to soon after injury for me this year . . .

Fellsman is awesome
Only downside to it is the overnight grouping system, where however strong and full of runnng you may be, you can get grouped with people who don't want to run in the dark or who are getting progressively slower, and end up being held back a lot between about 7pm and sunrise. I probably lost at least a couple of hours like that.
Of course, if you can get past the last grouping point before 7pm it's not a problem! 50.5 miles in 12 hours would be enough

Something I noticed on Saturday was that at no point from waking up at 01:00, until I got down off the fell side into Honister about 16:00, did I feel tired. As soon as I sat in the car back to Keswick with the heater on and wearing dry clothes then I was yawning and struggling to stay awake. Even the lively kids in the back couldn't distratc me from being tired. Luckily I was saved by a bucket of coffee.
It was like someone had ficked a switch as soon as I'd finished the run and knew I didn't have to run again.
The coffee lasted until about 21:00. Then, aided by a pint in the local, I needed sleep

KinkyS, is the grouping system more about the organisers not having to find lost individuals? Seems a bit cack to me. I'd be more than willing to sign my rights away.
